Goodbye to August
The first term really is well underway now as we say goodbye to August and welcome in September over the weekend.
On Tuesday the staff were involved in planning meetings for this term. Teachers have created exciting learning experiences which will take place across Primary 1-Primary 4 and Primary 5-Primary 7. I'll leave the children to tell you what the themes are because I don't want to get a row from the teachers if I 'spill the beans' too soon! At the end of this term there will be an opportunity for you to come along to school to see and hear about the learning that has been taking place so keep a look out for the date which will be sent out nearer the time.
I haven't been out in the playground yet this term and I'm missing my game of Tig. Although I'm out of school a lot next week I will do my best to get out and enjoy a playtime along with the children. If anyone has any ideas for other games we can play please let me know and we can give them a go.
Today at assembly we spoke about how important it is to talk to one another, especially at the end of the school day when children and parents/carers get together again. If your house is anything like mine the only word you'll receive after asking 'How was school?' will be 'Fine' or 'Boring'. I have asked the children to think carefully about what happens at school and then to tell mums, dads, grans, grandads (everyone really) what happened and what they learned. Please encourage your child to let you know about the learning that takes place in the class and if the answer is 'Nothing' please let me know and I'll have a word with the teachers!
Congratulations to all our Be The Best pupils this week we are all very proud of the hard work of our children and so it is nice to be able to recognise their efforts in this way.
Next week will be our first Come Dine with Me event. From Monday 3rd to Thursday 6th parents and carers will be able to come along and have lunch with their child. Please come along if you are able and you can taste the lunches that are on offer in school.
